Styrofoam Cup

Styrofoam Cup

In: Top 10

Styrofoam Cup is a sculptural replica of a 24 fl. oz. Styrofoam cup hand-carved from a solid block of polystyrene. The material polystyrene is a symbol of a disposability but also one of that lasts indefinetly in the environment. The work thus plays with the common themes of classical sculpture: a carved object that references reality, but makes that reality last forever (see Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne).
